By helping clients find ways to give more to the causes they care about, you can build stronger bonds with your clients and often have the opportunity to work across multiple generations of the family. One way you can add value to a client’s charitable giving strategy is by identifying the right assets to give and the right time to give them.

While much of the wealth transferred in the United States is held in non-publicly traded assets—such as private company interests, real estate or oil and gas interests - these highly appreciated, complex assets were a largely untapped source of funding for philanthropic endeavors until recently.

Fidelity Charitable’s Karla Valas will walk you through why giving complex assets is often the most tax-efficient way for donors to fund their philanthropy, how to identify the right assets to give and choose the right charitable vehicle, and how you can help your clients donate their assets.
